As you all know, 1945 was a very important year in human history. For the first time, human beings used atomic weapons. Hiroshima Nagasaki World War II ended. Apart from that, if you see, Nazi Germany surrendered. Many things happened in 1945. They have a news portal by this name and they publish a lot of things related to defense.
They have released a list where they have ranked the eight major super powers and great powers according to the eight countries of the world and we have to see where India stands in this ranking, India is ahead of France and UK but the overall rank that India should have got is not in this list.
First of all, let us look at this list to see who is at rank one here and what is the rank of India?
Now here I would like to say that since this is an American news portal, it is an American magazine, their viewpoint of the world is largely US-based, so you may find some strange things about India, but keep in mind that this is a list prepared from a US perspective.
Now, at rank one in this list, you will obviously find the United States of America. Here I would say that no matter which country makes this list, be it Russia, China or anywhere else, USA is indeed the most powerful country in the world. Their military economy is not matched by any country anywhere. For now, till the age of 2024-25, we can say that USA is the most sophisticated defence establishment and the only country that can conduct expeditionary operations at a moment’s notice on every continent. USA can start a defence operation in any continent of the world within a moment. No other country in the world has such power.
They have placed China in rank two, interestingly China has been placed above Russia and the reason they have mentioned here is China’s growing military power and its economic power. Along with this, they have also said that due to the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia’s dependency on China has increased a lot and due to this, today China has easily without any doubt come to rank two among the great powers of the world.
Obviously they have placed Russia in rank three, the reason here is very simple, Russia right now is the most sanctioned country in the world, it is cut off from the SWIFT payment system, their economy is suffering and the loss that their military has suffered, they will feel it for many decades. Immediately after the Ukraine war, Russia will not be able to afford another war, I mean absolutely these people are again moving towards a humiliating war where they push all their resources towards the war, that is a different matter, but for now if I tell you, Russia has lost its position as the second most powerful country in the world at least in the eyes of the Americans.
We were expecting India at number four, but surprise, surprise, Japan. Americans believe that in the coming decades, Japan will emerge as the second most powerful country in the Asian region. This means that Japan is increasing its defence expenditure and the biggest ace that Japan has is that it has a mutual defence treaty signed with the US, where it is clearly written that if any country attacks Japan, then that attack will be considered as an attack on America. And at the same time, even as of now, thousands of US soldiers are deployed in Japan.
You will be able to see this thing clearly written here that the Japan-US alliance is no less than the second most important military pact in the world. These people put NATO at number two. After NATO, the most important defence pact that USA has with any country is with Japan.
India comes at number five. Now, a lot of strange things have been written about India. It is said about India that India is the only country here which has a healthy demographic foundation, meaning that our birth rate is fine, it is gradually going below 2.1 but we have reached Kolpan till now. Then they add that India is far behind China in military terms, but India has very strong relations with Britain, France, US and Russia, due to which whatever modern technology India has, which we are unable to develop ourselves, we can purchase it from other countries. And since the topic of Russia comes here, it is being said about it that India’s very close relations with Russia are a weakness of India. They have added this thing here on their own, a relationship that even Indians are beginning to realize, more of a burden than an asset.
Now the Americans themselves are saying that the Indians have now understood this thing, according to them, India’s relations with Russia are a burden, not an asset. At the same time, our Defense Minister recently went to Russia and I told you that he said that our relations with Russia are above the mountains, deeper than the ocean, and we are also making a lot of important agreements with Russia, so again see, this is a wish of the US, butIn reality, nothing like this is happening right now. Then look further, they add that there are some parts of India’s economy which are still not properly developed, there is a huge population which is still in poverty and you will still find social unrest in many places in India, obviously they have mentioned Pakistan here and finally they have added one thing here that according to them, the democratic institutions of India have also become weak, but still according to them, India is still a more democratic country compared to Russia and China.
Then look, France has been added to this list. France is still being described as a very powerful country. France has been placed above the interesting United Kingdom. This is very interesting and here it has been said that Brexit was a very big geostrategic mistake.
Actually these people are saying that the UK’s exit from the European Union is said to be one of the three great geostrategic mistakes of the 21st century. It has been a geopolitical theory for a very long time that three big geopolitical mistakes have been made in the 21st century. So far, the USA attacked Iraq, which was a big mistake. Saddam Hussein was killed. Second, Russia attacked Ukraine.
I will also agree that this was a big mistake. Russia made a big miscalculation all together and the third big mistake is said to be the Brexit done by the UK itself by voting. Due to this, see, the UK has suffered a big loss in its ranking, otherwise overall since If the UK had remained in the European Union, the United Kingdom would have been ranked much higher.
At number eight, I was quite surprised that South Korea has been added here. It is quite weird. It is a country where the total population may be 100 million. The country may completely wipe out from the map in the coming times because the population here is 100 million. Completely, I don’t know it doesn’t make any sense. If you look at the other factors, at the same time, South Korea also faces a huge challenge from North Korea. So it doesn’t make any sense. They have an aircraft carrier. I mean, think from a very logical perspective. And if you want to say that at least it is a democracy, then what happened here recently puts a question mark on their democracy as well. So, it’s odd here. By the way, I would like to ask you, instead of South Korea, which country should be on the eighth spot according to you people.
