But now when we see that the bill has reached $800 million dollars, suddenly we are seeing that the Bangladeshi media is publishing such articles where it is written that Adani Power sells electricity at a very high rate to other sources of India.
Bangladesh also purchases electricity from the government companies of India. So, they say that when Bangladesh purchased electricity from India in 2013, then These rates would be of 2013 when they used to purchase electricity from India at that time, they used to pay 6% per kilowatt. Today they are saying that if we look at Adani Power, we have to pay 14% per kilowatt.
So, what they are saying today is that if they purchase electricity from government sources in India, it is cheaper for them.
The deal with Adani is costing Bangladesh more, so the electricity bills of the people of Bangladesh have also increased a little.
Now here you will ask the question that what can happen, can we give change, is there a possibility that recently we have seen in India that there were loss changes that the Indian government has given permission to Adani’s Jharkhand power plant that if tomorrow you do not want to supply your electricity internationally or export it, then you can connect your electricity to India’s national grid and you can sell electricity to Indian consumers.
If this happens, then see, there will be a big reduction in the total electricity that comes to Bangladesh because Adani Power alone fulfills 10% of Bangladesh’s electricity demand.
